I am the centre manager at Pebbles Montessori Preschool, Sumner. I love being on the floor with the tamariki as well as organising the office and making sure paper work is up to date! I started off gaining a Bachelor of Criminal Justice at University but quickly decided that teaching was where my passion lay and completed a Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Teaching, which led me to where I am today.

In my spare time I love spending time exploring new walks with my fiance and our dog, Jimmy. I also enjoy gardening and spending time at home.

I enjoy learning and growing alongside the great team of teachers, as well as the children, and I look forward to building my relationships with our whanau here at Pebbles.

I have recently returned home after living overseas for 2 years with my partner, Ryan. I gained some great teaching and life experiences over this time and I am very excited to be back living in our beautiful city. I have over 11 years worth of teaching experience and I am passionate about providing a safe, learning environment to ensure the children have a space to grow and thrive as individuals.

I love meeting new people and I am really looking forward to getting to know you all.

Please do not hesitate to come and say hello!

I am excited to be a part of the Pebbles Montessori team as a key teacher. I have 15 years' experience in early childhood education including five years in a Montessori Preschool. I have 2 grown up daughters who live in Dunedin and work in the hospital there; one as a sonographer and the other as a registered nurse. They are both graduates from a Montessori Preschool and I believe the wonderful foundation of learning they experienced at a young age, set them on their respective successful pathways. I am a firm advocate for the Montessori approach to education and I am delighted to be a part of your child's learning journey as we work through the beautifully prepared environment at Pebbles Montessori together.

Ko te ahurei o te tamaiti aroha o tatou mahi

Let the uniqueness of the child guide our work

Kia ora, my name is Debbie Cocks and I have been a passionate Montessori teacher for twelve years. I am the mother of four grown children and I have three

grandchildren. I love spending time with my family and completing cross-stitch patterns.

My philosophy is a respect for children based on the concept that children have

within themselves the potential for self-construction towards mature adulthood.

Through being active, children absorb through their senses. They are compelled to

explore and master whatever environment in which they are brought up.

Kia Ora,

I'm Amanda! Education and teaching have always been a passion of mine, starting at the age of 16 when I began coaching sailing. After taking a few years away from the classroom, I’ve had the privilege of teaching tamariki to sail, race, and build our club community for the past four years.

Sailing and racing are deeply ingrained in my blood and soul, and I spend most of my spare time either cruising or racing in Lyttleton Harbour, or venturing further afield. Although I don’t live in the Sumner community myself, I’m excited to be a part of it and to engage in its strong sense of community spirit.
